SING! PLAY! MOVE! GROOVE! Join the lively duo of Jeanie Brindley-Barnett and Jean Bayer as they bring us through another season of Music for LIfe™. Music for Life ™ classes begin on Friday, January 6 and are held each Friday in the Newman-Benson Chapel at Lyngblomsten from 10:45AM–11:45AM.
In this class participants learn general music skills and are introduced to the basics of vocal technique, playing melodic and percussive instruments, improvisation and songwriting. Each session is assigned a musical concept and goal, and is structured with a series of activities designed to explore this concept within the framework of a theme, such as Thanksgiving, Elvis’ birthday or television and radio jingles.
MacPhail Music for Life™ is a music education program designed for older adults. Each class invites participants to sing and swing, to move and groove! Making music increases a sense of wellness by integrating work of the body, mind, and soul. Participants are encouraged to voice to their ideas and to share memories and experiences through singing, storytelling and reflective activities. Each class culminates with a community presentation.
