We welcome back the vivacious Leslye Orr to host this delightful theatre sampler course. We will expose you to a myriad of Park Square Theatre guest artists and allow you to experiment with some of the techniques and tools they use to create theatre.
Class members are welcome to participate or just observe the activities offered.
February 2: Understanding Shakespeare. Actor and director Doug Scholz Carlson will demonstrate and teach participants how to speak Shakespeare’s words with conviction and relish. Doug will also talk about Shakespeare’s writing and what is so amazing about performing his work.
February 9: Warm-Ups for the Stage. This class will offer participants some useful tools to use when warming up their voices for acting, singing, and even for giving speeches. Leslye will lead you in some fun tongue twisters and other vocal exercises.
February 16: Creating Special Effects with Stage Makeup. Professional makeup artist Tessie Bundick will tell some fun stories and the history and evolution of stage makeup. Tessie will also demonstrate how to create special effects like burns and scars, and let you try to create a special effect yourself.
