Wellness for Life Talk: Fall Prevention

Jul 14th - 2:00 pm
5-5-1 Club - 1415 Almond Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55108

One third of those over the age of 65 will experience a fall, which can lead to serious injury or fatality. Falling or a fear of falling is not a "normal" aging process—it can and should be prevented. Many things can put you at a higher risk for falling, including decreased strength and flexibility in ankles and hips, changes in posture, slower walking speed, and vestibular system deficits.

The National Dizzy and Balance Center uses a team approach of doctors, audiologists, and physical therapists to assess all possible causes of imbalance and falls. Listen to a presentation by Andrea Mierau, Physical Therapist, to learn how to improve your balance and decrease your risk of falling.
