Older Adult Ministry Forum: Becoming a Dementia-Friendly Congregation

Oct 6th - 10:00 AM

Welcoming & Supportive

With a growing awareness in many faith communities of the challenges posed by dementia, congregants and church staff are beginning to explore ways to make their congregations more dementia friendly. Faith communities want to be welcoming places where people who are living with dementia, and their caregivers who share their journey, can continue to nurture and grow their faith.

Why Dementia?

Today, 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, including an estimated 200,000 under the age of 65. By 2050, up to 16 million will have the disease. –Alzheimer's Association

Faith Communities Bring Hope

By honoring and building on the strengths and gifts of those living with dementia, faith communities can find ways to meaningfully engage those with dementia and their caregivers, so that they continue to feel loved, valued, and welcomed.

This forum will help you champion the efforts of becoming a dementia friendly congregation.
