A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls
This 8-week class is an evidence-based approach to manage falls effectively and increase physical activity levels in older adults.
Many people over the age of 50 experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls is an evidence-based approach to manage falls effectively and increase physical activity levels in adults.
In 8 weekly sessions, participants will learn to:
- View falls as controllable and preventable
- Set personal goals for increasing physical activity
- Make environmental and other changes to reduce one's fall risk
- Exercise safely to increase strength and balance
If you are interested in improving your balance, flexibility, and strength, or are concerned about falls or have fallen in the past, this program is for you. Prevention is the best treatment for falls. Learn how to maintain your independence. This class will be led by two trained coaches from HealthEast.
Sessions are 2 hours with exercises being done for approximately 1 hour beginning the third week.
