COVID-19 Updates and Information

Campus Visitation Policies

Guidelines for visiting our campus

Please note: As of June 28, 2023 this page is no longer being updated.

Campus Visitation Policies

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lyngblomsten has instituted a number of policies for the care center and its two senior housing buildings (the Lyngblomsten Apartments and The Heritage at Lyngblomsten).  These policies, which are in accord with the latest requirements from federal and state health agencies for senior care facilities, are designed to mitigate the potential introduction and spread of the virus among residents, tenants, staff, and visitors while accounting for the widespread availability of effective vaccines and treatments.

A summary of our campus visitation policies is provided below (last updated on December 11, 2022).  Please know:

  • These policies may change at any time as new guidance is issued from federal and state health agencies, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).  We will communicate any policy changes directly to our residents, tenants, their family contacts, and employees.
  • Each of our campus buildings has additional visitation policies and procedures in place.  We encourage guests to contact their resident or tenant’s building (see “More Information” below) in advance of their visit with any questions they have.

General Visitation Guidelines

Please note: As of June 28, 2023 this page is no longer being updated.

The following general visitation guidelines are for the Lyngblomsten Care Center, the Lyngblomsten Apartments, and The Heritage at Lyngblomsten.

Guests may visit residents and tenants 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  In-person visits do not need to be scheduled in advance, and they may last as long as the resident/tenant and guest choose.

As of October 2022, visitors and staff do not need to screen for symptoms of COVID-19 upon entering any of Lyngblomsten’s buildings.  In addition, visitors and staff* are not required to wear facemasks while on campus—but only when the COVID-19 community transmission level is not high.  If the level is high, then facemasks are required for staff and are strongly encouraged for visitors.  Visitors and staff may always choose to wear a facemask or other personal protective equipment as desired.

*Staff are always required to wear facemasks—even when the COVID-19 community transmission level is not high—when (a) they are interacting with a COVID-positive resident or tenant, (b) they tested positive for COVID-19 within the previous 10 days, or (c) they had a high-risk exposure to a COVID-positive person.

Visitation During an Outbreak

Please note: As of June 28, 2023 this page is no longer being updated.

Current guidance from federal and state health agencies allows long-term care and senior housing facilities to have visitors when they are experiencing an outbreak of COVID-19.  (A facility is considered to be an in “outbreak” when it has identified one new case of the virus in a resident/tenant or employee.)

For persons who choose to visit our campus during an outbreak, please know there is a risk of becoming infected with COVID-19 during your visit.  This applies not only to those who are unvaccinated, but also to those who are fully vaccinated.

We encourage persons who are concerned about visiting our campus during an outbreak to postpone their visit and/or to host a virtual visit with their resident/tenant.

Building Access

Please note: As of June 28, 2023 this page is no longer being updated.

Visitor access to buildings on our campus is limited to their main entrances.  All other doors will be locked from the outside.  (You will be able to exit through these doors in the event of an on-campus emergency.)  Door entrances that are open for entry to buildings are the following:

  • Lyngblomsten Care Center – 1415 Almond Avenue
  • Lyngblomsten Apartments – 1455 Almond Avenue
  • The Heritage at Lyngblomsten – 1440 Midway Parkway

Events & Services on Campus

Please note: As of June 28, 2023 this page is no longer being updated.

Lyngblomsten is offering events and services on campus that are open to visitors (e.g., Anna’s café, memorial services in the chapel).  As pandemic conditions change on campus and in the community, these events and services may be modified or cancelled.  Please contact your resident/tenant’s building (see “More Information” below) to confirm whether an activity is being offered.
